Helsinki, Finland, 6.3.2012 – Online cab booking just got hotter in Europe. Gregg Brockway, the co-founder of TripIt and Hotwire joins in Cabforce.com seed round.
Cabforce.com, the European online cab booking service, has raised a substantial seed round and adds online travel guru Gregg Brockway to its investors. Also joining are Vera Ventures and KoppiCatch accelerator, with further backing from TEKES, the Finnish Innovation Agency.
“We have just announced that our service will cover the top 40 European cities by the end of 2012, and we are proud to reveal who is backing us in our mission. We chose Gregg as an investor for obvious reasons: he is one of the most respected names in the online travel industry and he’s experience raises the company to a new level”, says Tommi Holmgren, Co-founder and CEO of Cabforce.com.
“Ground transportation is a huge opportunity and one of the most dynamic segments of travel right now. Cabforce has the team, the local knowledge, the funding and the vision necessary to build a tremendous business in Europe and beyond. I’m thrilled to be one of their supporters”, says Gregg Brockway.
Travellers have long been able to book hotels, flights, rental cars, trains and ships online, but taxis and private hire cars have so far been mostly local and unorganized in terms of online availability. Before Cabforce.com there has not been an online booking service with similar reach and focus in Europe.
“The market has enormous potential as European travellers continue to shift to online channels –and we are there to provide the missing link of online travel services”, Tommi concludes.
Estonian Air is the first airline to provide public access on their website to Cabforce.com, the European online booking service for taxis, executive cars and minibuses. Estonian Air passengers can now make the bookings at the same time as their flight tickets.
The Cabforce.com online booking service delivers a fully-inclusive fixed price, which is paid on a secure site with a credit card. By making an advance booking, the passenger no longer needs to negotiate with local drivers about routes, prices and payment methods at the travel destination. The most common causes of confusion due to culture and language barriers can now be avoided.
“Partnership with Cabforce.com gives our customers a convenient access to transfer services via Estonian Air’s homepage. The service is currently available in Tallinn and at eight Estonian Air flight destinations in Europe: Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, London, Brussels and Paris. More destinations will be added in the future” said Enn Lamp, the Head of Sales and Distribution Department.
“We are happy to be the first airline in the world to provide public access to the Cabforce.com service for all our passengers. It is ideal for business travelers who wish to pre-pay the transfers between the airport and hotel with their company credit card for easy expense management.” added Lamp.
The Estonian Air partnership marks a new territory claim for Cabforce.com, which is expected to grow in the future with similar partnerships. “Co-operation with the Estonian national airline is a prime example of how a taxi service can be added to a partner’s service portfolio, without the need for them to invest in any supply network building and facilitation technology” says Tommi Holmgren, CEO and Co-founder of Cabforce.com.

The cure for business travellers’ taxi agony makes its first international appearance at the London Business Travel Show 2012.
Cabforce.com, the European online service for taxi and private car booking, makes its first international appearance at the London Business Travel Show 2012 to announce it will cover over 40 cities by the end of this year.
Similar to hotel and flight aggregation sites, the Cabforce.com search engine finds local cab, executive car and minibus providers and delivers a fully inclusive fixed price, which is paid on a secure site with a credit card. Today, customers can already use Cabforce in top 10 cities such as London, St. Petersburg, Madrid and Brussels.
Cabforce.com guarantees its customers a reliable transport service, with e-mail and SMS confirmations and electronic receipts. This helps travelers and corporate travel managers to conveniently book a trusted cab in an unfamiliar city.
“I think anyone traveling regularly knows how it feels waiting in the airport taxi line or being tired from the day’s journey. By booking in advance, it can be avoided. With us, the car waits for you when you arrive, not the other way around”.
“Traditionally, making a taxi payment can be a pain. Drivers usually demand cash, and bickering over how to pay is a hassle – particularly when dealing with dodgy looking cash receipts without indication of tax or currency” explains Tommi Holmgren, CEO and Co-founder of Cabforce.com.
The service is available online at www.cabforce.com and as a part of Travel Management Companies offerings.
Mobile applications for iPhone, Android & Windows Mobile are soon to follow.

We are very happy to announce the latest addition to our network: Brussels. It is live and available starting today!
For now we are limited in Brussels to a more exclusive service category intended primarily for airport pick-ups. While this is not our standard offering, we made this decision based on our own experiences with Brussels Airport. The local taxi situation is honestly speaking a disgrace: waiting time for taxi at 09:00 can easily be more than an hour, which is madness for a business traveller trying to make it to a 10:00 meeting.
We heard the stories, experieced it personally, came up with a solution, and tested it the first time couple of weeks ago – and were thrilled!
Here’s the deal: 65 € from the Airport to any address in Brussels City with meet and greet service. It means your car waits for you, not the other way around.
With a standard taxi you pay on average 40–60 € for the same ride. However, you often have a loooong wait ahead of you… Considering how valuable your time is, we highly recommend pre-booking your ride here, instead of wasting your life standing in line.
